Teresa Staiger

Teresa Staiger is a political scientist and an expert in common-good-oriented artificial intelligence (AI). She analyzes AI developments from a critical societal and international perspective. As a Project Manager for reframe[Tech] at the Bertelsmann Stiftung, she shaped the project’s strategy on the responsible development and use of generative AI.

Her current work focuses on a study investigating the data foundations of foundation models, exploring how they can be designed to better serve the common good.

Previously, she led the multistakeholder project Tech-Exploration in der Wohlfahrt, a six-week program aimed at identifying meaningful AI application ideas in the welfare sector.

For the past three years, she has also published the German newsletter Erlesenes, a biweekly selection of curated articles, studies, and debates on AI and the common good.

Before that, she worked as a policy officer for the Forum Digitalisierung und Engagement project at the Bundesnetzwerk Bürgerschaftliches Engagement.
